Reduced Field To Vie For $4.1B Carbon Capture Funding In Denmark

Denmark has taken a major step forward in its plan to capture and store carbon dioxide. On August 26, the first round of bids closed for the country’s DKK 28.7 billion ($4.1 billion) funding scheme. The Danish Energy Agency confirmed that fresh proposals have been submitted, marking the transition to the next phase of talks with applicants.

Officials see the tender as crucial for reducing Denmark’s carbon footprint and meeting its ambitious climate goals. “For every ton of CO2 we remove from the atmosphere, we reduce Denmark’s climate impact. The potential is enormous, and it is therefore encouraging that there is still great interest in participating in the tender. There is still some way to go before final and binding bids are on the table, but today marked another milestone along the way,” said Peter Christian Baggesgaard Hansen, Deputy Director General at the agency.
